Itinerary
Day 1 — Arrival - Launceston - Smithton · 238 km · Overnight: Smithton

Kick off your adventure departing Launceston and heading into Tasmania’s lush northwest, where rolling farmland meets winding country roads. This ride is all about easing into the journey—smooth, flowing highways paired with charming towns and ever-changing scenery. Cruise through Deloraine and the Meander Valley before weaving your way toward the coast, where the air turns salty and the views open up. From Ulverstone to Penguin and Burnie, you’ll hug the coastline with stunning ocean vistas never far from sight. The highlight? The legendary Stanley and the towering presence of The Nut—a dramatic volcanic plug rising from the sea. It’s the perfect photo stop and a true Tasmanian icon. Arrive in Smithton relaxed, refreshed, and ready for what’s ahead.
Day 2 — Smithton - Queenstown · 298 km · Overnight: Queenstown

Day two is where the real adventure begins. Leaving Smithton, you’ll head deep into Tasmania’s rugged west—home to some of the most dramatic landscapes in Australia. The roads become more dynamic, the corners more rewarding, and the scenery more untamed. Ride through dense rainforest where the road twists alongside river valleys and towering wilderness. This stretch is a rider’s dream—flowing bends, elevation changes, and pure immersion in nature. For those keen to explore, a short detour takes you to Montezuma Falls, Tasmania’s tallest waterfall—well worth the stop. As you continue, the landscape shifts into the raw, almost otherworldly terrain of the West Coast. Passing through historic mining towns like Zeehan and Strahan, you’ll feel the region’s rich history and remote charm. Roll into Queenstown via the famous Lyell Highway, surrounded by its unique, rugged mountains.
Day 3 — Queenstown - Launceston - Departure · 258 km

Your final day delivers one of Tasmania’s most unforgettable rides. Depart Queenstown and take on the legendary “99 Bends”—a thrilling stretch of tight corners that will have every rider smiling inside their helmet. From there, the journey opens up into the vast, remote beauty of the Central Highlands. Ride through alpine landscapes, past lakes and wide-open plains, where the air is crisp and the traffic is almost non-existent. The Great Lakes region offers sweeping views and a completely different feel to the coastal and forest rides of the previous days. Stopping near Miena, you’ll experience one of Tasmania’s most peaceful and scenic regions before descending back toward Deloraine and returning to Launceston. It’s the perfect finale—diverse, scenic, and packed with unforgettable riding.
